Resources – Useful Links
Our portal is intended to serve as a gateway to existing resources and information. This section features links to sites which will serve as good starting points to direct you to the information you need. Resources are listed here for informational purposes only and are not intended as a specific endorsement of any organization or service provider.
The list includes national, provincial and local organizations. Some are direct public or private service providers. Others offer related information on general topics of interest.
Important note: Many provincial and local sites are unilingual English (outside of Quebec) or French (in Quebec) or have sections under construction in the second language. We have chosen to include the complete list of sites on both of our English and French pages in this section, for those of you who may wish to consult them.
These pages are still under development. To suggest a website not already listed on our site, please complete our add a resource form
This section is organized as follows:
National
Includes government websites, national headquarters of organizations, and other sites of interest.
Provincial
Includes provincial organizations and associations, and other sites of interest.
Local & Regional
Includes local and regional organizations, associations, and service providers. This section has been created in response to the expressed need of individuals and clinical practitioners for a detailed internet resource listing local services.
A secondary benefit, once we develop several lists of local resources in other communities, will be the opportunity to discover what services exist elsewhere and learn about unique approaches to meet the challenges faced by people with intellectual disabilities and their family members. We are looking at setting up a blog or discussion forum to accommodate an online community for information sharing and we welcome your comments and suggestions for future development.
Our site is still evolving and its development is limited by financial and staff resources. We are searching for the assistance of partner organizations or individuals to help us launch and maintain pages for various cities, by submitting information on local resources. If you are interested in putting your city ‘on the map’, please contact us at
