Who We Are
The Miriam Foundation is a not-for profit foundation which supports rehabilitative, vocational and residential services for over 600 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Montreal. Our mission is to enrich the lives of these individuals and promote programs and services to support their families. Our Abe Gold Learning & Research Centre develops training, research and diagnosis/evaluation programs and its Learning Centre offers conferences and workshops to parents and professionals to address current gaps in education and training, service delivery and support in the field of Autism and developmental disabilities. Exceptional Family, our quarterly publication, is Canada’s resource magazine for parents of special needs children.
Autism Central is produced by the Miriam Foundation. Its initial development was funded in part by Human Resources and Social Development Canada and the ongoing development of its content includes the participation and support of various individuals and organizations from across Canada.
Autism Central’s web page contents are written and edited by Arlene Segal, its Coordinator and the Director of Communications & Special Projects for the Miriam Foundation. She has more than 20 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector as well as a B.Sc (Bachelor of Science, Major in Biology) and MBA from McGill University in Montreal. Articles reproduced on this site are by the author’s or publication’s permission and clearly identify the name and qualifications of the author.
